Saturday, June 17, was a special day for Palos Verdes where we celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the Palos Verdes Project with an event called Doors Open Peninsula
The Palos Verdes Library District coordinated the celebration and engaged a number of organizations and over 50 locations in Palos Verdes and San Pedro to participate in this unique historical event.
It was well attended and many got the change to see places they had never seen before.
PVE Neighborhood Watch participated at the “hub” location at Malaga Cove School and at the Mirlo Lodge Gate Tower in Valmonte.

DOORS OPEN PENINSULA - Mirlo Gate Lodge in Valmonte
It was a special treat to have the Mirlo Tower open. PVE Neighborhood Watch and Valmonte residents volunteered to support the over 150 people that visited during the day.
This is the first time it has been open to the public, as far as we could remember. Many long-time residents were excited to finally be able to go inside. A number of students, who had made the Mirlo Tower their 3rd grade project, were equally excited to visit.
